1st Moscow Watch Factory
Antarktida
Description
One of the watches made for Soviet polar explorers in the 1950s, this model was issued to participants of the first Soviet Arctic expeditions. According to available statistics, it appears to be rarer than the Antarktida watch. The watch features its own distinctive 24-hour movement, with the hour hand completing one full revolution per day. This was critically important in the conditions of polar day and polar night, when a conventional 12-hour watch made it difficult to determine the actual time of day. According to available information, only 500 examples of this version were produced.
