Usually I don’t buy watches in poor condition. I can make an exception for a military watch or something never seen before but that’s about it. Few weeks ago I found two watches at a local auction sold in a single lot. This usually happens when watches being sold are really worthless. But that wasn’t the case. Both watches are Kirova Type 1 and both awarded to the same person - Antipov N.A. who worked at GAZ automobile plant during WWII and was one of engineers responsible for development and state acceptance testing of GAZ-51 truck. GAZ-51 development started before WWII but mass production didn’t start until Jan 1946. 3.4M+ units made until 1975 make GAZ-51 the most popular Soviet truck and with the longest life span too. It would be really hard to imagine post war development of the USSR without it 💪🏻 Inscription 1: To Antipov N.A. for selfless work during the days of Great Patriotic war from management of GAZ Apr 15th 19xx Inscription 2: To Antipov N.A. for successful state acceptance testing of GAZ-51 from management of GAZ Jan 6th 1947.
