Description

24h Polar Aviation Antarktida watch. To date, this watch is known in only a single example. It was presumably produced as part of an extremely small batch intended as award watches for Soviet polar explorers. The watch is also unique in its form factor: unlike the versions housed in “Sportivnie” cases, this example is fitted in a large gold-plated dress watch case. It is also believed to be the first Soviet watch to feature a depiction of the Antarctic continent on the dial, together with a reference to polar aviation. Inscription on the caseback says: To navigator Dolmatov M.A. for transcontinental flight Moscow-Mirny 1961-1962.
