Description

The Raketa Polar watch was produced by the Petrodvorets Watch Factory in a small batch as part of the equipment issued to members of an Antarctic expedition. Workers at the Petrodvorets Watch Factory nicknamed watches in this type of case “saucepans” because of their distinctive construction. The model is unusual in that it lacks the conventional bezel used to secure the crystal. Instead, it uses a self-contained capsule consisting of the crystal, screw-down caseback, movement, dial, hands, and winding crown, which is then inserted into the outer case. The watch is powered by the Baltika 2623 movement with 21 jewels.
