Description
A very rare dial variation of an iconic Soviet watch - Sputnik. Its launch marked the beginning of a new era of political, military, technological, and scientific development. The launch date of Sputnik 1 is widely regarded as the beginning of the Space Age. Normally you have painted numerals and indices but this example has metallic ones. You may call it gilt but I don't know what the technology was. A unique example with golden color indices and numerals is also part of this collection. Sputnik 1 was the world’s first artificial Earth satellite — a Soviet spacecraft launched into orbit on October 4, 1957.
