Description

Sputnik watch by 1st Moscow watch factory with unique dial variation. The difference is in numerals that are gold-plated as opposed to painted numeral in a more common dial variation. The red disc on the seconds hand symbolizes the flight of Sputnik around near-Earth orbit. Sputnik 1 was the world’s first artificial Earth satellite — a Soviet spacecraft launched into orbit on October 4, 1957. Its launch marked the beginning of a new era of political, military, technological, and scientific development. The launch date of Sputnik 1 is widely regarded as the beginning of the Space Age.
